The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has appointed Mr. Ibrahim Inuwa Addra, a reporter with Channels Television, as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammed Aliyu Ubandoma, and made available to newsmen in Lafia, on Thursday, indicated that the appointment was with effect from July 1, 2020
Ibrahim, according to the statement, is from Doma Local Government Area of the state. He was also the CPS during the governorship tenure of late Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma, in 2007/2011.
ExpressDay reports that the office of the Chief Press Secretary has been vacant since 2015.
Journalists in the state have hailed the appointment of the new CPS as a good development.
Wilson Bako, the National Vice President Zone D of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), commended the governor for taking his time to appoint one of the finest image makers for his administration.
He said that the appointment was a right step in the right direction and at the right time, too.
“We are proud of the Governor for yet bringing one of us , a core journalist and one who knows the value of the media.
“The appointment of Addra, to me is the best thing that would happened to this administration. Ibrahim knows what to do in laundering the good image of this administration, he has been here in the same capacity and journalists in the state are more at home with him.
“His appointment now shows that the governor values the input of the media. I, therefore, urged all media practitioners in the state to rally round the new CPS and the governor for better development of the state,” Wilson said.
