The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has become the latest state governor to test positive to Covid-19.
Fayemi announced on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday morning that he has tested positive to the Coronavirus and would be handing over the running of the state to the Deputy Governor.
He wrote: “I took my third Covid-19 test yesterday and it came back positive. I’m generally ok and I’m already self isolating at home and receiving the best of care from my medical team. I’m delegating critical tasks to my Deputy but will continue routine duty from home”.
With the revelation, he has joined the governors of Delta, Ondo, Kaduna, Ebonyi and others who have fallen victim to the global pandemic.
Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 576 new cases of Covid-19 bringing its total to 37,801. 805 deaths have been recorded with 15,677 patients discharged after successful treatment.
Lagos remains the epi-centre of the outbreak in Nigeria with 13,626 cases followed by the FCT and Oyo State.
