Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for approving N8 billion for the completion of the construction of the Farin Ruwa water project in the State.

He gave the commendation at a meeting with stakeholders to assess the Covid-19 situation in the State on Thursday.

According to Sule, the N8 billion meant for the construction of the dam and the road in Sisimbaki, which was started by his administration, was approved on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the instance of Mr President.

He said the decision of the federal government to take over the construction of the Dam was in line with the vision of his administration.

“If you could remember, when this government came on board, we have it mind to ensure that all projects started by the previous administration are completed.

“So, I want to use this opportunity to thank the federal ministry of water resources, Mr President and indeed, the federal government for having it in mind to construct the Farin Ruwa Dam,” he said.

While giving update of Covid-19, the Governor said that, so far, the State was able to test over 700 people and that 90 of them have been confirmed positive.

He, however, regretted that four people had died as a result of the disease in the State.

Governor Sule applauded the efforts of the security agencies, traditional rulers and religious leaders in the state.

He also appreciated the media for ensuring that citizens of the State are constantly informed through sensitisation and giving details on the efforts of government towards curtailing the pandemic.
