Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, fierce critic of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally joined the party, saying that God led him to do so.
The former Aviation Minister was media campaign director of President Goodluck Jonathan on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 election.
President Buhari received Fani-Kayode into the APC on Thursday, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he was led to by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the APC, and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
Speaking to journalists afterwards,
Fani-Kayode said that he was led by the Spirit of God in his decision and that he joined the APC to help foster the unity of the country.
He also stated that he was against anything that would cause the disintegration of Nigeria.
According to him, he was instrumental to the defection of three PDP Governors to the APC.
The Governors he mentioned were Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Bello Matawale of Zamfara State.
He further said that he had friends across party line and was wooing the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed to also join the APC.
