The Federal University of Lafia ((FULafia), has concluded plans to confer Honourary Doctorate Degree on Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Ambassador Ahmed Gazali and Adulsamad Isiyaku Rabi’u.

Also, the late Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai, who died in 2019, will also be posthumously awarded a Doctors of Letters (Honoris Causa).

According to a statement by the Head, Information and Public Relations Unit of FULafia, Abubakar Ibrahim, yesterday, the conferment is part of activities to celebrate the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, convocation of the University, scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

The event will hold at the University Sports Complex, Permanent Site Campus, Makurdi Road, Lafia.

The statement quoted the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Muhammad Sanusi Liman, as saying that Senator Al-Makura, who is the immediate past governor of Nasarawa state, would be honoured for his invaluable contributions to the development of the University.

“We cannot thank him (Al-Makura) enough for all that he has done for our university while he was the governor,” the VC reiterated.

Prof. Liman reiterated that Senator Al-Makura has raised the bar of delivering democratic dividends to the people of Nasarawa State and the University, in particular.

Liman applauded the government and people of Nasarawa State for the hospitality and support enjoyed by the Federal University of Lafia.

“We have continued to enjoy this support under the administration of Governor A. A. Sule and I say a big thank you to him,” he noted.

The VC also commended other awardees for their contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
