The Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Babaji Sunday, has advised people with criminal tendencies in the FCT to repent or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, the CP insisted that criminals will not be tolerated within the FCT and its environs and called on residents of the capital city to report promptly, any suspicious movement to the police.
“Without mincing words, I want to state categorically that no criminal elements will be tolerated within the FCT, hence, anyone with criminal intentions should either repent or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
“On this note, I want to reassure members of the public of the Command’s undeterred resolve to protect lives and property within the FCT.
However, I would crave the indulgence of the well-meaning residents of the FCT to promptly report any suspicious movements or emergency, as we have circulated our distress call lines in the media and placed them at strategic locations within the city.”
He, however, disclosed that his command recently arrested a 36-year old drug peddler with 6 bags of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
The suspect whose name was given as Justice Ezeogu, the CP said, was arrested along Nyanya axis of FCT.
“On August 9, 2021, during a routine patrol, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Violent Crime Section arrested one Justice Ezeogu ‘m’ 36 years with 6 bags of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana along Nyanya axis of the FCT.
“The suspect confessed to being a merchant of Indian hemp will be handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation, he said.
