FCT Police arrests 26 suspects, recovers 4 AK 47 rifles, 1,750 ammunitions, others

Within the past few weeks, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command arrested 26 suspects, recovered four AK 47 Rifles, one locally made pistol, 15 Riffle magazine, 1,750 ammunitions, one car, 20 bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, five knives/machetes, and many other items.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Babaji Sunday, disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja, Friday.
He, however, reiterated the ban  on tinted vehicles and covered number plates within the capital city, insisting that all violators will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
CP Sunday further warned criminal elements in the FCT to desist or face the anger of the law, noting that his Command has put stringent measures in place to protect lives and property of residents of the FCT.
“I wish to reiterate the ban on tinted vehicles and covered number plates within the FCT as all violators will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
“At this juncture, I want to sound a note of warning to criminal elements within the FCT to desist from their criminal activities or face the full wrath of the law.
“I want to use this medium to guarantee residents of the Command’s resolved commitment toward the protection of lives and property within the FCT,” the CP said.
He, therefore, appealed to residents of the FCT to be security conscious and provide timely and correct information to the police in case of emergency “as our phone lines are in circulation.”
CP Sunday commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman and the Minister of the FCT, Mallam  Muhammed Musa Bello, for their support to his command.
Meanwhile, the CP disclosed that his Command has arrested a suspected kidnaper and supplier of food and drugs to kidnappers.
According to the CP,  police operatives from the Command’s anti-kidnapping section arrested 30-year-old Salihu Musa along Kwali axis of the FCT.
The suspect, the CP said, confessed to being a supplier of food items and drugs to kidnappers along Kwali axis. The suspect was arrested while trying to supply the said items to kidnappers.CP Sunday, further disclosed that Police operatives from Karshi Division arrested a kidnapping syndicate who specialises in staging the kidnap of members of their families and demanding ransom.
The suspects who include Adamu Jibrin , Mohammed Dahiru Husseini and Abubakar Ya’u have confessed to the crime. They were arrested at Karshi axis of the FCT. Investigation, according to the CP, revealed that they threatened to kidnap a brother to Adamu Jibrin and collected ransom of N750,000 in order to avoid the kidnapped.The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
