Students of the Rochas Foundation College of Africa, in Owerri, were full of excitement when the College in collaboration with Ibidapo Lawal Foundations took the students on a leisure trip. Educational materials were also distributed to the students.

During the trip, the students of the College  were engaged in extracurricular activities which took them to the Genesis Cinema, Owerri.

The aim is to enable the students to relax and cool off their minds as they resume for full academic activities.

Speaking, the Principal of the College, Sir Felix Okechukwu, said that it has been the culture of the Founder of the College, Chief Rochas Okoracha, to have such activity for the students  and engage them in social activities outside the school environment for a while ahead of the beginning of their academic work.

He explained that the main reason for the outing was to ensure that the students are mentally and physically prepared for school work.

The Principal added that doing the same thing every time dulls the brain hence, the need for the outing.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to well meaning individuals, philanthropists and corporate organizations to assist the foundation to sustain the programme of providing free and quality education to the less privileged across African countries.

Responding to questions from journalists one of the students of the College from Southern Sudan, Christina Angong Thomas, said it was an exciting experience for her, stressing that she will always remain grateful to the Rochas Foundation College and Ibidapo Lawal Foundation for giving her the opportunity to acquire formal education all for free, in a foreign land.

Another student, SS3 Simon Akol Chan also from Southern Sudan, said it was a great privilege to be among those benefiting from the foundation.

“In gratitude, I will remain a good ambassador of the Rochas Foundation College by using what I have learnt from the school to positively impact the society and my immediate environment.”

Findings revealed that  Rochas Foundation has 13 schools across six geopolitical zones in Nigeria through which more than 8000 Students  from many parts of Africa have acquired sound education without any financial burden on their parents.
