- Etsako-West Chairmanship: Resi ...

By Balarabe Oshiafi
As the race for the chairmanship of Etsako-West local government elections gradually gather shape and rhythm, a wide spectrum of market woman and okada riders have voiced out their preference for a popular philanthropist and businessman, Clement Igbafe Afeikhena.
Pushed by the many posters of interested parties which are already flooding the streets and Afemai WhatsApp, x and Facebook handles, ExpressDay decided to feel the pulses of the common people on the street.
At the ever busy Uzairue market in Jattu, several of the market women spoken to were profuse in voicing out their preference for the man they fondly refer to as “Igbafe”.
Madam Oyarebu is a garri merchant. She said to this reporter, ” If I see Adams Oshiomhole or any other leader, I will just tell them to give the Chairmanship of this local government to that Iyuku Boy. I’m from Jattu here but I feel the impact of what he is doing. Im a beneficiary of his acts of benevolence”.
Speaking in the same vein, Egwakhide Oyone, a student of Auchi Polytechnic averred that Clement Igbafe Afeikhena is a young political leader who has the interest of the Youths at heart.
“At his young age, he is a successful entrepreneur. Apart from giving scholarships to indigent students in Etsako and sinking bore holes for communities, he has maintained the policy of employing Etsako youths in his distribution company. How many of those jostling for the Chairmanship position have ever done such?. Truth be told Clement is our choice”, he enthused.
Still at the Jattu market which provided a veritable ambience for this investigation, several commercial motor bike riders shared the same viewpoint that the Iyuku-Uzairue born leader is “an idea whose time has come”.
This newspaper had exclusively reported recently that Afeikhena’s foray in partisan politics was inspired by the benevolent spirit of his late Mother, Madam Adzegbouno Afeikhena.
in an interaction with this Reporter in relation to the Chairmanship race, Clement who is also the Managing Director of Saintclemmy Distribution Company said, ” I’m very much in the race to become the next Executive Chairman of Etsako-West local government area”.
A statement he made available to ExpressDay disclosed that his team works under the aegis “Path to progress coalition” whose Mission Statement is “to inspire and mobilize communities toward achieving good governance, sustainable development, and inclusive leadership by fostering education, empowerment, and active civic engagement for a prosperous and equitable Nigeria”.
As part of the preparations for the next LGA elections in Edo State, Governor Monday Okpewholo recently appointed members of the state independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC)
