The Executive Chairman, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Pharm) Victor Ofobrukueta, has commissioned the Isiokolo roundabout and distributed writing materials worth millions of naira to over sixty-two primary and twenty-four secondary schools in the local government.
The local government council boss, Hon. (Pharm) Ofobrukueta who commissioned the reconstruction and beautification of the roundabout at the headquarters of the local and distributed the education materials across the area, said the event is in line with the governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori’s 100 Days in office.
The roundabout which was commissioned by the former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese in company of the leader of the Ethiope East Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bernard Edewor, commended the local government council chairman, Hon. (Pharm) Ofobrukueta for the development of the local government.
Ofobrukueta while promising the Ethiope East people of his administration’s commitment to deliver deliver dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots, said the distribution of the writing materials, the reconstruction and beautification of the roundabout is to collaborate with the Governor Elder Sheriff Oborovwori 100 Days in office, the MORE Agenda and as part of his ‘welcome back to school programme.
Speaking further, Ofobrukueta said, “I am humbled to continue this yearly distribution of writing materials to the 62 primary and 24 secondary schools as part of my commitment to see that we contribute maximally to the education of our children.
“We started the distribution of writing materials to our pupils since the inception of this administration despite the lean resources accrued to our council. It is our unwavering commitment to see that our pupils in these various schools are adequately tutored.
“This event is in line with the More Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who has promised Deltans that his administration is pose to give more development to Deltans from Infrastructure to education and all in all aspects of the wellbeing of the people of Delta state.
“And we at the local government level has also keyed I to this More Agenda, coupled with the fact that the removal of subsidy has brought hardship to our people, so, we have decided to embark on this project to reduce the suffering of our people and the cost of providing these writing materials worth millions of naira to our children.
On the reconstruction and beautification of the Isiokolo roundabout, he said, “The Isiokolo roundabout was tattered and the council decided to give it a face lift by reconstructing and beautifying the roundabout even with our very scarce resources. I thank the management team of the council including the councilors for being able to achieve these projects.”
The Local Government Education Authority Secretary of Ethiope East, Chief Rose Esiso described the yearly distribution of writing materials by the council Chairman as a welcome development, commending him for boosting the education in the area and. urged the pupils not to misused the materials.
Earlier, the President General of Isiokolo Community, Chief Lucky Oghenejuvwete, thanked the council chairman for giving the reconstruction and beautification of the roundabout, saying that before now the roundabout was looking good and. prayed that God should continue to give him and his team the grace and enablement to do more for his people.
