World’s richest man and tech tycoon, Elon Musk has agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion in cash transaction.
Musk has said he will make Twitter a private company after the acquisition.
The company accepted his ‘best and final’ deal of $54.20 per share, bringing the value of the deal to $44 billion. The transaction approved by the board, is now subject to a shareholder vote, Reuters reported.
Musk in a tweet after the deal was accepted said he will unlock Twitter full potentials.
“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated”, he said.
