The only patient that tested positive for Covid-19 in Ekiti State has tested negative and has been discharged.
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti.
She explained that the index case, who had been in isolation, was discharged after he had fully recovered.
The patient, according to her, has been receiving treatment since middle March at the Ekiti State Infection Disease Control Centre in Oba Adejuyigbe General Hospital Ado-Ekiti. He was later confirmed negative.
Yaya-Kolade, reiterated that the index case was given the best treatment in accordance with international best practices and was confirmed free of the virus after several tests were carried out on him.
She disclosed that the state government was monitoring the 41 contacts that had been put in self isolation, insisting that all necessary measures had been concluded to contain the spread of the virus in the state.
The Commissioner however, appealed to Ekiti residents to observe religiously hygienic life style in order to avoid contracting the disease.
She further called on the people of the state to obey the stay at home order of the state government, which, according to her, is aimed at curtailing the spread of the disease.
Speaking to newsmen, the patient who was visibly elated applauded the Ekiti State government for taking good care of him throughout the period he was receiving treatment at the center.
