- Eid-el-Fitri: Abuja monarch pr ...

As Muslims mark the end of Ramadan, the traditional ruler (Etsu) of Mbuko Community, Bwari local government area (LGA) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya Dangana, has enjoined the citizenry to tolerate one another, incorporate the lessons of Ramadan into their individual and societal lives such that vices such as insecurity, unemployment and the like will reduce remarkably. Tucked in between igneous rocks, Mbuko is solid-mineral rich and a tourist destination. Even as the monarch admits he enjoys a harmonious relationship with the quarrying companies in his domain, in this interaction with Balarabe Oshiafi, he wants the government to do more for his people in terms infrastructural provision.
Eid El Fitr
Alhamdullilah. Eid El Fitr is among the twelve calendar months of the Hijra, the Islamic calendar. Today marks the end of the month of Ramadan holy month during which we observed the fast . So that is why we are celebrating. During Ramadan, we learnt a lot of lessons. Whatever you achieve during the month, don’t change. Be focused and let the lessons abide in you towards a better society.
Religious teachings and insecurity
I believe the two dominant religions in Nigeria (Islam and Christianity) are doing their best in terms of inculcating godly values into the citizenry. Both religions preach peace and unity. What I would like to say is that government needs to increase efforts in creating awareness about security, empower and encourage security agencies for improved performance.
Relationship with quarrying companies.
The relationship is harmonious. I don’t have any arguments with them. They are alive to their corporate social responsibility (CRS). As they come, they know they have to enter into community development agreement with us. And they do that.
Government presence
I see that the present local government, that is Bwari area council is trying to bring development to the rural areas. That is commendable. I would like to use this medium to urge the Honourable Minister of FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike to do more in security this federal capital. Stable development won’t come in an atmosphere of kidnapping and banditry. Here in Mbuko, we need a junior secondary school, more classes and a Hospital.
Relationship with other monarchs in Bwari LGA
We have three Dutses here. Each has a traditional ruler. We meet under the chiefs forum of Bwari area council. In this forum, we have our regular bi-monthly meetings. We discuss issues, problems in this meeting. Whatever our resolution is, the executive of the forum will take to our paramount Ruler for onward delivery to the local government chairman for appropriate action.
