A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Engineer) Halims Eghieobomhe Okhidemeh, has passed on.
ExpressDay learnt that the notable politician who is in his 70s, died yesterday afternoon after inspecting work that is being done for him in his farm.
“I’m saddened by the sudden demise of my Father, I really don’t know what happened. My Father was hale and hearty.
“He called me in the morning and told me he would visit the farm to see work that was being done for him in his farm”, a legal practitioner and son of the late politician told this newspaper in an emotion-laden voice.
The late politician was the Edo State Chapter Chairman of the defunct All Peoples Party (APP) and also a successful businessman, as the Managing Director of OTS Okhidemeh Transport Services.
He is survived by his wives, many children and grandchildren
The late Okhidemeh was born in early 1940s and had his elementary education in Apana-Uzairue, Etsako-West Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State and later moved to Benin City for further studies and search for greener pastures.
In 1978 he joined politics and pitched tent with the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). In 1998 he joined the APP and was the State Chairman before aligned with the PDP and later with the APC.
His burial arrangements will be announced in due course, ExpressDay learnt.
