Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has charged residents of Udege community in the State not to hide criminal elements among them.
The call came as a result of the recent killing of the traditional ruler of Udege community.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Addra, on Sunday, the governor said: “We believe there are criminal elements amongst the people of this area and we must fish them out.”
The statement noted that Governor Sule gave the charge when he paid a fact finding visit to the palace of the Osu Ajiri, Halilu Bala Usman, the traditional ruler of Udege on Sunday.
The visit, according to the statement, was prompted by the killing of Mr. Amos Ewa Obere, the monarch of Odu in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
Governor Sule who restated that security of lives of the citizens is a priority of his administration insisted that criminals must not be allowed to truncate the peace and economic activities of any community.
The Osu Ajiri on his part commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for beefing up security in the area as well as the on going construction of Mararaba Udege – Udege Mbeki road.
He, however, appealed for the speedy appointment of more district heads in the area for ease of administration and improved security.
Governor Sule was accompanied by the former governor and Senator representing the area, Abdullahi Adamu, and other government officials and later paid a condolence visit to the palace of the late traditional ruler of Odu.
