Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro Chapter, has demanded that the Governing Council of the Polytechnic appoint a new Registrar from within the institution.
The Union made this known to newsmen in a communiqué signed by its Chairman, Comrade Ighosewe Mike and Secretary, Comrade Inonoje Sunday Emmanuel, after its emergency Congress held on Thursday.
The communiqué stressed that there are qualified staff within the institution that are capable of doing the job and have passed the attitude test conducted by the Governing Council.
According to the Union’s communiqué: “SSANIP appreciates the Chairman of the Governing Council, Rector, and the entire management staffs for responding to our passionate appeal and quest for an Internal Registrar as it is in our sisters Polytechnic.
“The Union strongly requested that, they be given Internal Registrar, three of our internal staffs in the Polytechnic participated in the attitude test conducted by the Governing Council of the Polytechnic and one came first position.
“SSANIP deeply frowned at the recent mass community protest as regards the issue of the appointment of the Registrar but the Union by this communiqué disassociates herself completely from the protest.”
The Union warned it will not be able to guarantee industrial safety, if the demand for the appointment of Registrar internally is not met.
