
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday morning met with President Bola Tinubu over the killing of 16 military personnel by militants in Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area of the State.
A Lieutenant Colonel, two Majors, one captain, and 12 other soldiers were killed while in the community for what army authorities said was a peacekeeping mission.
President Tinubu condemned the attack and asked the army to smoke out the killers.
Emerging from his meeting with the president, Governor Oborevwori told State House correspondents that the situation had been brought under control, even as he assured the anxious public that there would be no further attacks in the community or State.
The Governor declined to confirm the report of reprisal attacks allegedly carried out by the military and the number of casualties, saying that being a security issue there were some information he could rather not divulge to the public.
He however, said that met with the army and other security chiefs in Bomadi a day earlier but has been unable to meet with leaders of the affected involved community because they and other residents had fled the place.
