The Delta State Auditor-General of Local Government, Olorogun Abel Ogheneovo Esievo, at the weekend bagged the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Ambassador’s Award.
The Olorogun Abel Ogheneovo Esievo, who hails from Ekpan-Ovu, Agbon Clan, Ethiope East, Delta State, was honoured during an event which held the Nigeria Labour Congress Hall, Asaba, the State capital.
The Award was in recognition of his support and selfless contributions towards the growth of the UPU, Asaba branch.
Esievo had also been described as kind hearted, generous and a detribalised personality; and in recognition of his service to society and mankind in nation building, he was nominated by the Delta State Government for the prestigious Award of Justice of Peace, JP, in 2018, among other numerous awards from Civil Society Organizations and Christian religious bodies.
Speaking at the award ceremony, the President of UPU, Asaba branch, Mr. Austin Akpede, said the award was given to Olorogun Abel Ogheneovo Esievo as crusader of Urhobo cause, especially for the Asaba branch.
Akpede said Esievo had been a strong financial pillar for the Union, and had always supported it whenever it had a program and he was invited.
“He will always attend with his wife, and we have always seen him as great ambassador of the Urhobo nation”, he said.
He described Olorogun Esievo as a complete Urhobo man by all standards, adding that the honour bestowed on him, may not be commensurate with what he had done or been doing for Urhobo UPU, Asaba but that this was just to honour and appreciate him as an UPU, Ambassador.
