Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Chief Damishi Sango, has advised political parties to ensure that any political office seeker that causes any act of violence in the ongoing campaigns is sanctioned.
Speaking with ExpressDay on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart said,” Elections are meant to produce leaders who will provide dividends of democracy. We do not want any further rancour in this country. So I would like to advise political parties to advise flag bearers to play by the rules”.
Sango, a former Plateau State Chapter Chairman of PDP, charged politicians who are seeking for elective offices to concentrate on workable plans that will alleviate the sufferings of the people rather than cast aspersions at opponents.
He said that those who deploy thugs as their stratagem do not really have something to offer.
While commending the military for securing the release of the remaining 23 victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train hijack, Sango urged the electorate to vote for the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, saying that his Government will rid Nigeria of endemic insecurity and provide better life for the citizenry.
“I’m a staunch follower of our candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Having worked closely with his as a Minister, I can attest to the fact that Atiku is an astute administrator and manager of resources.
“His government as our President will bring huge relief and take us out of the stress the nation is experiencing”, he said.
