Another popular bakery at Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has been sealed by the State Taskforce on Environment for violating the compulsory face mask policy of the state government.
Chairman of the State Taskforce on Environment, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, who briefed newsmen, on Friday said the bakery was closed temporarily because workers were producing bread without wearing face mask.
Oromoni, represented by the Coordinator of Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, Comr. Kingsley Iweka, explained that the bakery workers who always have first touch on breads before consumption refused to heed to the Governor’s directives after well publicized announcement and warning for compulsory use of facemask.
According to him, early this month,Government of Delta State underthe Quarantine Act, said that anybody arrested for not wearing face mask would be placed on 14 days isolation at the person’s own risk.
He frowned at the flagrant disobedience of the government directives of compulsory wearing of facemask when moving around within the State to mitigate the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
He noted that commercial vehicles and motorcycles are still in the habit of overloading their vehicles with passengers, thereby, disobeying the directive on social distancing which is capable of jeopardizing the efforts of the government in the war against COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Taskforce on Environment has impounded a vehicle belonging to a popular transport company (name withheld) for flouting the State government’ directive on number of passengers in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chairman of the Taskforce, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni while addressing journalists in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state said the vehicle was carrying 14 persons as against 10 passengers approved by the State Government.
Oromoni thanked the police for their cooperation and called for further support to strictly enforce curfew and compulsory use of face masks in public places while stressing that all violators will be arrested and charged to court irrespective of their status.
The task force chairman warned bars, clubs and restaurants that are still operating against the State order to stond ordered a total closure of the slaughter until further notice.
