Following the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the country, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has warned Nigerians to take the directives on maintaining social distancing serious.

He gave the warning while giving update on the status of the Covid-19 in Abuja, on Friday.

This is even as at 8pm Friday, Nigeria has 70 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 with five new cases recorded. Out of the five new cases, three are in FCT while 2 are in Oyo.

While stressing the need for Nigerians to adhere to the federal government’s order of social distancing, the Minister said: “I urge you to play your part in your little way by taking social distancing very seriously, as a mark of your individual social responsibility, and your contribution to preventing the spread of the disease in Nigeria.

“Ensure you maintain at least two metres (5 feet) physical distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

“These are trying times in our nation. The fight to contain COVID-19 is a call for collective action.

“The Federal Government is doing everything possible to contain the pandemic. The presidential Task Force will continue to review our strategies and take steps as appropriate.”
