He disclosed that at a media briefing in Abuja, on Friday.
Ehanire, however, revealed that there is no new case of the Covid-19 virus in Nigeria apart from the index case that is currently responding to treatment.
He revealed that, “there were three new suspected cases between March 4 when I last provided update and today, two cases were negative while one result is pending. “Therefore, as at today March 6, I repeat that there is only one confirmed case of Covid-19 in Nigeria.
“Let me assure you that there is no other confirmed case in Nigeria today. If there is a new case in Nigeria, this will be announced immediately. Please, disregard rumors of new cases in Nigeria.”
While saying that the index case is stable with mild symptoms, the Minister said: “We are following up with the 61 contacts of the index case. 21 contacts in Lagos state and 40 other contacts in Ogun state. The contacts of the index case are currently under supervised self isolation and the states have provided them with temperature monitoring tools.”
He, however, noted that of the 148 passengers in the manifest of the index case flight, 66 are actively being followed -up.
“We are reaching out to others, I urge other passengers of the Turkish airlines flight to Lagos on February 24 to contact 0800970009-10,” he stressed.
