The Chairman of Ethiope East LGA, Delta State, Chief Faith Majemite on Thursday distributed food items worth over N5 million to residents of the local government area, as part of the state government effort to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 lockdown.
While distributing the items to the people, the Ethiope East council boss explained that the palliatives were to be shared to mainly aged people, less privileged and other vulnerable people to cushion the effect of the stay at home order.
“l am giving you people these items, as a result of this lockdown especially the aged people to sustain themselves for the period.
“You are to manage what l am giving out to you because l don’t have enough now but with the little one l have l still want to share with you people, because there is love in sharing”, Majemite added.
Speaking further, Majemite called on the people of the local government to comply with the state government directive on the stay at home order for the prevention of the corona-virus.
One of the beneficiaries, Pa Umurhurhu and others who spoke commended the Ethiope East Council boss for the gesture, saying that if every well-to-do citizen of the local government area could do the same, there would be no problem.
