In preparation to making the use of face masks compulsory in public places, the Kano State Government has launched the distribution of one million face masks to residents of the State.
Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, performed the official flag-off of the free distribution of the one million face masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), at the Government House, on Monday.
According to a statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, the distribution programme would later be held in the eight metropolitan local government areas of the state.
Commissioners and Special Advisers, he said, have been assigned to monitor and supervise the distribution in the affected local government areas.
Muktar Ishaq Yakasai and Barr. Ibrahim Mukhtar, Commissioner of Special Duties and Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice respectively are to monitor the distribution in Municipal Local Government.
On the other hand, Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Tahar Adamu and his counterpart in the Ministry of Finance, Shehu Na’Allah Kura, have been posted to monitor the distribution exercise in Dala local government.
Others include Sadiq Aminu Wali, Commissioner, Water Resources and that of the Ministry of Housing and Transport, Barr. Lawan Abdullahi Musa who will supervise the programme in Nassarawa Local Government.
Muhammad Sa’idu Kiru and Aliyu Tumfafi, Commissioner for Education and Special Adviser Grassroots respectively have been posted to Tarauni.
Others are Nura Muhammad Dankadai, Commissioner for Planning and Budget and Masur Isa Gawuna, Special Adviser, Deputy Governor’s Office to monitor the exercise in Gwale Local Government.
Those to supervise the exercise in Kumbotso Local Government are the Commissioners for Rural and Community Development, Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso and his counterpart in the Ministry of Commerce, Mahmud Muhammad Dansantsi.
Commissioner for Local Government and that of Youth and Sports Development, Murtala Sule Garo and Kabiru Ado Lakwaya are to supervise in Ungogo local government.
In Fagge Local Government, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure and the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Ali Baba Muhammad are to monitor the exercise in this area.
