The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Folasade Yemi Esan, on Monday directed all non-essential pubiic servants on Grade Level 12 and below to keep off their offices and work from home with effect from Tuesday, 24th March, 2020 until further notice.

The directive is part of measures y the Federal Government to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.

A circular issued y the Head of Service stated that “all other categories of officers who will be at work, are strongly advised to limit the number of visitors they receive to the barest minimum. This is to reduce physical contact as much as possible.

“Furthermore, officers who have recently visited countries with incidence of COVID-19 or, have had contact with persons who recently returned from these countries, are advised to self-isolate at home for 2 weeks.

“In case such officers exhibit any of the COVID-19 symptoms, they are advised to contact the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on 0800970000-10.”

Meanwhile, with no reasons offered, the Head of Service with approval of President Buhari redeployed the Permanent Secretary in the State House, Mr. Jalal Ahmed Arabi to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development.

Two other Permanent Secretaries were equally redeployed, including Tijjani ldris Umar from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development, to the State House; as well as Sabi’u Zakari, from the Ministry of Transportation to the Ministry of Defence.

The circular conveying the redeployments on Monday noted that that they took immediate effect and that the handing/taking-over processes should be completed on or before 5th April, 2020.

In the meantime, the most senior Director in the Ministry of Transportation will oversee the affairs of the office of the Permanent Secretary pending the appointment /posting of a substantive one, the circular added.
