Delta State Taskforce on Environment, in collaboration with the Taskforce on Enforcement of Covid-19 Restriction, has sealed off Rome Restaurants and Bar in Akpan, Uvwie Local Government for violating the ban on operation of hotels in the State.
The State Taskforce Chairman on Environment, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, represented by one of the Coordinators, Comr. Kingsley Iweka also said that Samosa Guest House as well as Floxy Night Club and Sizzlers fast food center, were all sealed for disobeying the rules guiding hotel business and restaurants in the State.
According to Iweka, “we got a report that a wide and an elaborate party is frequently held in one of the hotels as against the State government’s order.
“We sent security operatives the next day to go and check, and when the team went there to check, they saw a large crowd of people in their bar eating and drinking which led to their being sealed off”.
Apart from violating social distancing order, it was also gathered that Rome restaurants and Bar connected their waste lines to the road thereby damaging a large portion of the road which is against environmental law.
The operation also had the Uvwie local council Chairman, Hon Ramsom Onoyake and members of Uvwie Covid-19 Taskforce.
Hon Ramson Onoyake while addressing newsmen, said that the sealing of the bar was timely as the council is collaborating with the State government to mitigate against the spread of COVID-19.
