President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday resumed work in his office, despite his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, testing positive to the coronavirus disease two days ago, a Presidency source has said.
According to the source, the President who was still in the office at about 2:30pm, however, did not play host to any government officials who would usually have come for the usual briefings.
The main function of the day would have been the week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting but this has been put on hold till further notice.
The presidency had since Tuesday scaled down official assignments and staff on duties in Aso Rock Villa, as part of measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.
This was in adherence to the current restriction in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) against gathering of not more than 50 persons at the same time at any venue, as well as the directives on social distancing measures,it explained.
Security officials at Aso Rock entrance gate were observes politely turning back staff and visitors whose names were not cleared to be allowed entry into the now almost deserted seat of power.
