The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has warned that Covid-19, popularly known as Coronavirus is not transmitted through broiler chickens.
This is contrary to the rumours making the rounds in the social media.
The NCDC gave the warning in a statement, Tuesday.
In a brief statement, it said: “The NCDC is aware of a rumour being shared on social media, that the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is spread through broiler chickens.
“The NCDC can confirm that this is completely FALSE. The public is advised to disregard this rumour and discourage further spread.
“Scientists are working on identifying the animal source of this new virus. Currently, there is no known link between the virus and broiler chickens.”
