Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Nasarawa state have expressed concern over the non-availability of both national and state party officials at the ward congresses which were scheduled to hold on March 7.

The development compelled two contestants for the chairmanship position of the party in the state, Hon. Jibrin Sabo Keana and Hon. Sidi Bako to hold a press conference, insisting that ward congresses were not held in the State.

Addressing journalists, Jibrin Sabo Keana, maintained that the ward congresses scheduled by the National Working Committee of the party to hold on 7th , March, 2020 did not hold in Nasarawa State.

“This is sequel to the non arrival of electoral officials and materials for the exercise in all the wards across the state. Every effort made to inquire on the non availability of party electoral officials and material proved abortive.

“On behalf of ourselves as aspirants to the State Chairmanship position and our teeming supporters, we hereby put the National Working Committee and party stakeholders on notice to be aware of its attendant implications.

“To this effect, any result purported to be a product of ward congresses in Nasarawa State is false, null and void and wont be accepted by us and our teeming supporters.”

He continued that: “It is a matter of great regret that the incumbent State executives having led the hitherto vibrant party in the State to its worst electoral outing in 2019 general election is by this action laying foundation for the total failure of the party in the State.

“The NWC is hereby invited to call the SWC to order and to put in place a neutral panel that will carry out a rescheduled ward congress in the State in order to avoid further damage to the party.”

On his part, one of the outgoing executives of the party in Doma Local Government, Ibrahim BBC, observed that the copy of the list of delegates given to them to cross check was a photocopy not original copy.

A female contestant who preferred anonymity reiterated that apart from the delay in the distribution of materials, the election did not hold.

She asked: “How do you expect credible, free and fair election when the state party chairman – Orogu, hijacked the electoral process at the ward congress?”
