The Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Hon (Dr) John Gabaya has felicitated with the citizenry for their resilience, hard work and faith in the new democratic order.
In a special message to mark June 12,2024 democracy day, the chairman described the current civil rule that started in 1999 as “return of power to the people”.
In a message titled, “Honourable (Dr) John Gabaya felicitates with Nigerians and says democracy has come to stay”, signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Agada Ernest Godwin and made available to ExpressDay in Bmuko, Dutse, Bwari, Abuja on Wednesday, Honourable Gabaya urged residents in his council area and the entire citizenry to continue to support government in the collective quest to bring better life to the people.
According to the Chairman, this day is one of “extreme significance in our history as a Nation as it marks the return of power to the people”.
Gabaya was succinct: “Our uninterrupted democracy since 1999, is proof of its overwhelming popularity and acceptance, as it has allowed the active participation of everyone in the society in choosing their leader. In Bwari Area Council, we will continue to extend the democratic dividend to the greater majority of our people”
He enjoined the people to see themselves as part of governance, ” I call on all Bwari people, Nigerians and friends of our dear country to support our effort to deepen democratic values towards ensuring that our people are major stakeholders in the process of governance”, he said.
While commending the people for keeping faith with the Government, Gabaya said “Our desire to strengthen democracy and give its true meaning informs the investment we are making in the social re-engineering of our Council through the Provision Of Infrastructure and human capital development needed to unlock the growth and development of the Bwari Area council of our dream”.
He added: “We salute and commend the courage of our patriots, living and dead, who sacrificed everything, including their lives, in the cause of June 12 and the birth of democracy in our land. You are our heroes and heroines”
The Chairman specifically thanked the residents of his area council for their solidarity, followership and faith in his “purposeful leadership”
