President Muhammadu Buhari has directed his cabinet members and political appointees, including Ministers, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, personal assistants and all other assistants and aides, to remain in office till May 29th when his adminstration winds up.
Buhari gave the directive Wednesday when he chaired a valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Aso Rock Villa.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced this to State House correspondents as he reacted to rumours that the President dissolved the cabinet during the valedictory session.
He explained that the President thanked the cabinet members for their services but directed then to return to their offices and continue on their beats till the government winds up.
According to Mohammed: “The news that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved is not correct. We’ve been directed by the President that we should all go back and return to our offices. So, it is not true that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved, it is still very much alive”.
During the valedictory session, the Ministers took turns to express their appreciation to Buhari for giving them the opportunity to serve the nation.
They showered encomiums on the President for the strides in governance recorded by his administration since 2015 when it came in board.
