President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the renewal of appointment of Colonel MD Dikio (Rtd) as Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme for another one-year tenure.
A press statement issued by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, made the announcement on Thursday.
Col. Dikio was first appointed in August 2020, and has, despite the challenges, been able to command widespread respect amongst the various stakeholders in the Niger Delta, the statement added.
The Amnesty Programme was instituted by the administration of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to address the agitations of Niger Delta youth about the neglect of the region.
The Programme has since been training jobless youth of the region in various skills while funding local and overseas education of many students from the area.
