Armed anti-riot policemen have this morning taken over the Edo State House of Assembly complex.
This followed the impeachment yesterday of the Deputy Speaker of the House, Yekini Idaiye, who along with a few other state legislators recently withdrew their support for Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The policemen were seeing refusing to allow access into the premises, yet no official reason has been given for the action.
Earlier, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) this Thursday morning in a press statement alerted the public of the plan by some thugs to storm the premises.
“It has come to our knowledge that the APC led by Adams Oshiomhole will this morning, Thursday August 6, 2020 lead thugs to the premises of the State House of Assembly in an attempt to illegally take over the house and legislative arm of government,” the statement by Chris Osa Nehikhare, the party spokesman said.
