The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved.

Acting National Chairman of the party, Victor Giadom, announced this at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party presided over from the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

Yobe State Governor, Mai-Mala Buni, was named Chairman caretaker/extra-ordinary convention committee.

He was immediately sworn in by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aides, Bashi Ahmed, announced on his twitter handle that the President made the proposal for the dissolution of the NWC.

He wrote: “Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved.”

Buhari had made a dramatic announcement a day earlier, throwing his weight behind Giadom as acting chairman of the party.

Many members of the dissolved NWC had kicked against Giadom, who sought to take control of the party following the suspension of the erstwhile chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
