Benue warns trouble makers to desist or risk jail

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has vowed that his government would not spare any individual or group of individuals that fuel crisis in the State no matter how highly-placed that are.

The Governor stated this on Monday while briefing newsmen after the Tiv Nation Security and Stakeholders meeting held at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi.

Ortom stressed that anybody found igniting violence in the state would be arrested and prosecuted.

“The law will be allowed to take its full course. These crises are needless and must be put to an end.

“We have gathered that most of the crisis in Tiv Nation are usually perpetrated by the youth and they are often times shielded by elders.

“We cannot surrender the state to the criminally minded youth.

“We have decided to constitute expanded security network from kindred up to the ward level.

“This is aimed at preventing criminals from taking over activities in the communities.

“They cannot take over leadership of our communities whatsoever.

“We will ensure that criminality is eliminated in the state. We will not relent in fighting in order to add value to the development of Tiv nation in particular and the state at large,” the governor declared.

The meeting was attended by the Tor Tiv, James Ayatse and other prominent indigenes of Tiv land.
