As part of the ongoing training of staff and resource persons in the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)-driven National Skills Qualifications (NSQ), Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State has undertaken to work with Auchi Tailoring Union through its Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CEDAP).

The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar made this declaration while playing host to members of the Usogun Zone of Auchi Tailoring Union on Thursday, ExpressDay learnt.

“You will recall that NSQ is a system for the development, classification and recognition of skills, knowledge, understanding and competencies acquired by individuals that are needed to make meaningful impact in the workplace in today’s global world.

“It is my belief that after the training, members of the Tailoring Union who themselves are our resource persons will not only be competent instructors and trainers, they will at the same time, be able to compete in the Fashion and Design industry both locally as well as internationally” the Rector said while assuring them of full inclusion in their training schedule.

He further informed the visitors that “our goal is to ensure that every graduand of Auchi Polytechnic henceforth, acquires a skill in an area of his/her interest as part of the requirements for the award of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates as this is being built into our curriculum starting from next session.

“The acquired skills would boost the growth of a number of sectors and reduce unemployment and youth restiveness in the long run.

“I am humbly thankful to Mr. Shegun Morgan, the Chairman and his executives as well as all members of Auchi Tailoring Union, Usogun Zone, for the recognition and Award for ‘Digitalization and Excellent Leadership’ bestowed on me.

“This remains a motivation for my team and I to continue to put in more efforts in moving Auchi Polytechnic to higher grounds in the area of service delivery”.
