The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Faruk Yahaya has emphasized the preparedness of his officers and men to secure Nigeria and her citizens at all times.

He spoke through his representative and Group Managing Director, Nigeria Army Welfare Limited by Guaranty, Major General Adekola Bakare at the maiden annual Command Guest House Stakeholders Conference 2022, organised by the department of Special Services and Programmes on Thursday in Abuja.

The COAS assured the public that the Army would leave no stone unturned in building all its components of fighting power to combat insurgency and other criminal activities in the Land.

The theme of the conference, which was “Repositioning the Nigerian Army Hospitality Endeavours for Enhanced Service Delivery”, was considered expedient by the COAS, saying that it will boost the morale of Troops, their families and recreation-loving public.

“Presently, Command Guest Houses are in Lagos, Abuja, Bauchi, Yola, Gusau, Maiduguri and Kaduna.Command Guest House, Sokoto will soon come on board as work in the facility is almost completed”, he said.

He also announced plans to establish Command Guest Houses in major Cities and geo-political zones across the Country.

The COAS further gave his assurance that his administration placed high premium on the welfare of troops

“For example, the renovation of the Command Guest House, in Maiduguri was completed and handed over to the Operators in May 2022 while there are also plans to carry out phased renovation of Command Guest Houses in Apapa, Yola, Gusau and Kaduna”, the Army Chief said, adding that the facilities are subsidized for guest accommodation, recreation and entertainment.

In his remarks, the Chief of Special Services and Programmes, Major General Solomon Udounwa, said the Nigerian Army had redoubled its efforts towards improving the well being of personnel and their families through welfare investment adding that the Command Guest House initiative was one of such investments.

Udounwa said the department was established in January and has held quarterly meetings with management of the Guest Houses and other stakeholders while informing that the annual conference was engendered by the need to expand the frontiers of the department for effective service delivery.

“We are excited to have representatives from all Command Guest Houses as well as Hospitality Industry Operators, Regulators and Professionals to interact and offer an experience that will galvanize our zeal and interest”, Udounwa enthused.
