As part of the non-kinetic efforts of the Nigerian Army (NA) to tackle the multi-dimensional security threats across the Nation, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja recently commissioned multiple projects in Arewa Primary School in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
He used the occasion to commend well-meaning indigenes of Jigawa State for their relentless support and cooperation to the NA and other security agencies in the fight against bandits and other criminal elements in the State.
The COAS who was represented by the Commander 26 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Haruna Muhammed Abubakar, as Expressday learnt, stated that “the purpose of the COAS special intervention Civil-Military Cooperation project was to provide support to communities of serving seniors who through their exceptional duty and service to the Nation have risen to the enviable rank of Major General of which Kazaure community is privileged to benefit from.
The COAS commended the project executor, Major General Sule Kazaure for his dedication and commitment to service during his career.
A statement issued by the Army after the event said: “He further added that the facelift given to the school included renovation of 39 classrooms, rehabilitation of existing borehole, construction of stormwater drainage and culverts, construction of 100 double seaters, construction of 137 triple seaters, renovation of Head Master’s office, zonal office, construction of 17 toilets and standard teachers tables and chairs.
“He noted that the CIMIC project would assist immensely in improving the educational development of the good people of the community.
“In his remarks, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs ( Army) Major General Nosa Ugbo represented by the Director Civil Military Affairs, Brigadier General BP Koughana appreciated the COAS for his strategic guidance and continued support to the Department of Civil Military Affairs to superintend over the execution of the special intervention Civil Military Cooperation projects across the country. He also urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the facilities are used for the purpose they were provided for.
“Earlier in his remarks, the project executor, Major General Sule Kazaure disclosed that the laudable contribution would no doubt contribute towards sustaining the peace of the community and by extension that of the State.
“He thanked the COAS for providing the resources used to execute the projects, he added that projects of this nature will go a long way in enhancing the academic output of our children in the community.
“In his remarks, the chairman of Kazaure Local Government Area, Alhaji Tukur Usman Isah thanked the COAS for his immense contribution and support towards the development and improvement of schools.
“Highlights of the occasion were the cutting of commissioning tape, the unveiling of the commissioning plaque, a tour of the commissioned projects, the presentation of gifts and souvenirs, visit to Emir of Kazaure and group photograph”.
