Following his take over as Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Giadom has announced the cancellation of the Edo governorship primary screening.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, on Wednesday, Giadom asserted that Adams Oshiomhole, the now suspended chairman of the party, was not competent to have presided over the screening of candidates in the Edo Governorship primary as an interested party.
He therefore, called on the aspirants to return for fresh screening between today (Wednesday) and Thursday.
While justifying his take over, Giadom, cited a previous court order empowering him to do so.
The APC spokesperson, Lanre Issa Onilu, had late Tuesday night, announced that the Deputy National Chairman (South), Abiola Ajimobi, would assume office as national chairman in acting capacity.
“According to Section 14.2. (iii), of the APC constitution, the Deputy National Chairman, North/South ‘Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone’,” Issa Onilu’s statement read in part.
It can be recalled that the Appeal Court on Tuesday affirmed the ruling of the FCT High Court, which had suspended Adams Oshiomhole as APC national chairman.
