President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his promise to take more decisive and proactive measures towards ensuring that the Boko Haram menace in parts of the country is totally eliminated for sustainable peace and development.
He gave the assurance during a strategic engagement with the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, on the prevailing security situation, following Chadian military operations on the fringes of Lake Chad.
Governor Zulum was at the State House to brief Buhari on the implications of the recent Chadian military onslaught against the terrorists on Nigeria’s national security.
Chadian troops, led by the country’s President, Idris Debt, had carried out the operation in response to the killing of over 90 of their soldiers by the insurgents.
After critically analysing the situation, Buhari and Zulum expressed the belief that time has come to once and for all, put to an end the senseless acts of terror by Boko Haram and other criminal elements operating in the region.
The Governor of Borno state also briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on his administration’s efforts towards containing the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic, although Borno State has not recorded any case of COVID-19.
