Nigeria’s Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has been re-elected as the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) President for a second five-year term.
The former Minister of Agriculture in Nigeria
was the sole candidate for the position before the election was held on Thursday.
Allegations of misconduct during his first term had trailed him before the election, but he was cleared by an independent investigation panel.
In a petition by a group of whistleblowers, Adesina was accused of 20 breaches of the bank’s code of conduct.
The bank, however, found him free of any ethical wrongdoings.
