- Nextier hosts dialogue on Nige ...

Nigeria’s prominent public policy think-tank, Nextier, has announced its hosting of a high-level policy dialogue as part of efforts to chart a course for the nation’s development efforts.
The session, which is scheduled for this Friday, is themed: “Building Resilience Beyond Aid: Nigeria’s Path to Sustainable Development.”
According to information released by Nextier on Monday, “this Policy Dialogue represents an opportunity to rethink Nigeria’s reliance on diminishing international aid flows and to identify innovative pathways toward resilience.
“As donor budgets contract across the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and other traditional partners, Nigeria confronts escalating humanitarian needs, with over eight million citizens displaced by conflict and climate shocks, and critical services disrupted by funding constraints.
“The Dialogue will focus on identifying practical, scalable models that reduce aid dependency while safeguarding essential services in health, education, food security, and livelihoods.
“It will convene senior policymakers, philanthropy leaders, civil society actors, diaspora representatives, and private sector partners to engage in evidence-driven conversations to generate actionable strategies for resilience and sustainable development in Nigeria and across Africa.”
It further explained that the programme is scheduled for two hours – 10am to noon – and includes presentations, a panel discussion, and audience contributions.
The programme is structured to open with a Welcome Address by Kole Shettima (MacArthur Foundation, Nigeria); then Goodwill Messages from Ford Foundation, Luminate, and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs; while Keynote Address is to presented by John Palfrey, President, John D. & Catherine T. of MacArthur Foundation
There will also be a Report Presentation by Patrick Okigbo III, Founding Partner of Nextier; while Panel Discussion on “Building Resilience Beyond Aid: Africa’s Path to Sustainable Development” – Moderated dialogue with contributions from philanthropy, education foundations, civil society, and private sector leaders, will follow.
