The All Progressives Congress (APC) displayed a formidable show of unity and strength on Friday as political leaders, traditional rulers, and party loyalists converged on Obudu for the highly anticipated Obudu Reception and Endorsement Mega Rally 2025.
The event marked a significant affirmation of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Prince Bassey Otu, and Deputy Governor Peter Odey.
Organised by Hon. Agnes Atsu, the rally drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters and prominent dignitaries, turning Obudu into a hub of political energy and celebration. Attendees included APC State Chairman Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq., JP; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar; and Secretary-General of the Maritime Organisation for West and Central Africa (MOWCA), Dr. Paul Adalikwu.
Also present were High Chief Higgins Peter, Hon. Rose Abua, Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Mrs. Kate Agba-Ajibike, Hon. Peter Akpanke, and traditional ruler HRM Utsu Felix Ukudare. Their attendance underscored the rally’s significance as a major political moment for the APC in Cross River State.
Speakers at the event praised President Tinubu for his bold economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the overhaul of the foreign exchange system. They highlighted his administration’s ongoing infrastructure push across power, transportation, and housing sectors, asserting that these initiatives would yield long-term benefits despite short-term challenges.
Vice President Shettima was commended for his contributions to national security and his oversight of key federal economic diversification programs, which have played a role in restoring public confidence in governance.
On the home front, Governor Prince Bassey Otu received accolades for his “People First” agenda, which focuses on rural development, healthcare access, education, and tourism revival—especially the promotion of Obudu Cattle Ranch as a global destination. Deputy Governor Peter Odey was praised for his grassroots engagement and his leadership in the northern senatorial districts of the state.
Addressing the crowd, Hon. Agnes Atsu described the event as “more than a political gathering,” calling it a celebration of visionary leadership. “This endorsement is about continuity, progress, and recognition of what our leaders are doing at both the state and national levels,” she said.
The presence of both political elites and traditional leaders reflected a united front and deep grassroots support for the ruling party, as analysts believe the rally signals growing consolidation for the APC in Cross River State, particularly in the North, a region often pivotal in electoral outcomes.
