Former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Monday visited Nigeria’s former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, at his Hilltop Mansions in Minna, Niger State.
The senator, who represents Abia North, in the Ninth Senate, is believed to be engaged in political consultations ahead of his much touted ambition for 2023 presidency.
Kalu, a two-term Governor of Abia from 1999 to 2007, however, described his visit to the retired General and political gladiator as a private visit.
“I just arrived Minna, Niger State for a private visit to my leader the military President of Nigeria,General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB)”, he announced on his Facebook page.
Kalu was recently freed on the orders of the court from Kuje Prison in Abuja following the upturning of his 12-year conviction for misappropriation of N7.2 billion while he was governor.
He had hinted then that his conviction was a veiled bid to stop his growing political profile ahead of the presidential poll in 2023.
